Dear MechSE Grad Students,

We are announcing the 3rd MechSE Art of Science Competition (MASC), where you are invited to submit an original image (artistic renditions are encouraged) with a brief caption of around 50 words. Images will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

• Connection between image, text, and research
• Originality
• Visual Impact

In addition to prominent recognition on the department’s website and the GraMS Instagram account, selected top entries will be displayed in an event on Dec 6th from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm in John Deere pavilion. We will give out 4 awards during the event. Three of the awards will be chosen by a panel of judges consisting of professors from all 5 primary research areas of MechSE, and a final award will be chosen by the attendees of the event.

• First prize—$150
• Second prize—$100
• Third prize—$50
• The People’s Choice Award—$50

Group entries (2-3 students) are also allowed; you will split the monetary award if you win.
