Dear MechSE Grad Students,

We are announcing the 2nd MechSE Art of Science Competition (MASC), where you are invited to submit an original image (artistic renditions are encouraged) with a brief caption of around 50 words. Images will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
1) Connection between image, text, and research
2) Originality
3) Visual Impact
In addition to prominent recognition on the department’s website and the GraMS Instagram account, selected top entries will be displayed in an event on Dec 5th from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm in John Deere pavilion. We will give out 4 awards during the event:
Chosen by a panel of judges consists of professors from all 5 primary research areas of MechSE
First prize—$150
Second prize—$100
Third prize—$50
Chosen by all attendees of the event
4) The People’s Choice Award—$50

Group entries (2-3 students) are also allowed; you will split the monetary award if you win.
